"I stayed at Bonners Lodge B&B whilst on business in the area. I stay away from home a lot with my job so I fancied a change from the usual chain type hotel.
It was a good decision as it is such a lovely place, set in the beautiful Durham countryside, Michelle is the perfect host and the en-suite accommodation is excellent and very comfortable. There was a skylight in the bedroom so I could see the stars from my bed(which made a nice change) and it was lovely to wake up to the peace and quiet and a total lack of noise from car alarms and traffic!
Breakfast included fresh fruit salad, a selection of pastries ,and yoghurts and a full English. Michelle also caters for various dietary needs/requirements-I’m vegetarian and I hadn’t informed her beforehand but she still offered plenty of choice. After breakfast I even got to say hello to her two horses, which was a nice start to the day.
I was sad to leave- it would have been nice to have stayed longer and get to enjoy the local area. We did eat in a nice pub nearby The Manor House which had a great unusual menu with lots of vegetarian options. Try the Cumberland Nettle cheese!"
We stayed at Bonners Lodge for two nights. We found the accommodation beautiful with a fantastic attention to detail and to a very high caliber. We felt very welcome from the start and for Michelle nothing was too much trouble for our family. Breakfast was utterly delicious with home made bread, fresh fruit salad, croissants, a full vegi for me and smoked haddock poached in milk with poached egg for my husband-as I said nothing was too much trouble and all was presented so beautifully. Can we give 11 out of 10 because Bonners deserves it!? Thanks for all you did for us Michelle and we hope to see you again.
